Remembering Dominic Lencioni

"Dominic loved all things outdoors; he was very much a hands-on learner and lover of life. Although he struggled in the K-12 system he did attend Chico State starting fall 2023 where his educational world changed tremendously. He selected Concrete Industry Management as his major because it sounded interesting, offered many career options, and he would not be stuck in an office all day. Many of his passions involved a board: wake boarding, snowboarding and of course skate boarding. He spent many years skating locally in California (Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Nipomo, Chico, Santa Barbara, San Diego) and out of state during his internship in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey."

"The Skate4Concrete internship provided an amazing experience for Dominic. He had the opportunity to travel, do hands-on work applicable to his major and future career, to meet new people as well as make connections in the concrete industry, and most importantly, he helped build a new skate park that would provide a place for skaters to do their thing for many years to come. He returned home with a new enthusiasm and passion for his future. He enjoyed his internship so much that he hoped to be able to work on the next skate park project in the summer of 2025.

Dominic lived life to the absolute fullest. He was loyal to his family and his ever-expanding friend group. He didn’t know a stranger and he was considered a best friend by many. It didn’t matter if he had known you for years or a just a few months, he made an impact on you. He wasn’t afraid to love big and in turn he was loved big back. He was caring, thoughtful, kind, respectful, gave the best hugs and it has been said that he was just a cool guy. His smile and his laugh were infectious and you couldn’t help but smile when you were with him. He brought joy and light to those around him with his positive attitude and easy-going personality. He had the innate ability to draw people together and was the first person to help a friend in need. From a very young age, he was as skilled conversationalist. He could talk with anyone regardless of their age. Dominic was inquisitive; he was not afraid to ask questions, to share his opinion or to question the opinion of others to gain a better understanding of the topic being discussed. There aren’t enough words to express how truly special he was. Although his life was short, his impact on those around him was immense."

- Delores Lencioni

At Skate4Concrete, we were deeply honored to have Dominic as our 2024 Summer intern. From the very start, his enthusiasm and passion were unmistakable, leaving a significant and positive impact on everyone he met. Dominic's excitement about his work and his heartfelt connection to his dream project—a skatepark—shone brightly.

Throughout the internship, Dominic also had the opportunity to be mentored by Dominic DiCenzo from the Connecticut Concrete Promotion Council. Their weekly sessions were filled with exploration and learning, including plant tours, concrete pours, new technologies, and meetings with industry executives. The shared name led to the playful and memorable phrase “the adventures of Dom1 and Dom2,” capturing the unique bond and collaborative spirit between them.

Tragically, we were heartbroken to learn of Dominic's passing in a jet ski accident shortly after he returned home to California following his internship. His sudden loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Dominic’s vibrant spirit, boundless enthusiasm, and dedication left an indelible mark on our hearts. His incredible potential and the joy he brought to those around him are profoundly missed.

In honor of Dominic’s memory and the remarkable legacy he began to build

We are establishing the Dominic Lencioni Concrete Skatepark Internship. This program will continue Dominic's dream by offering future skaters in the Concrete Industry Management program the chance to contribute to the creation of a skatepark during their summer internships. It is our hope that this internship will inspire others as Dominic inspired us, keeping his spirit and passion alive in every project.

In memory of Dominic Lencioni, we invite you to consider making a donation to support the Dominic Lencioni Concrete Skatepark Internship. Your generous contributions will directly fund the wages for future summer interns and cover other essential expenses to ensure they have an exceptional and rewarding experience.

Skate4Concrete is proud to be a program of Project Cornerstone, a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN #46-5413149). Your donation is not only a tribute to Dominic's legacy but also a meaningful investment in the dreams and futures of aspiring skaters. Thank you for helping us honor Dominic in such a meaningful way.

Honor Dominic Lencioni’s legacy with this special tribute t-shirt featuring the Skate4Concrete logo on the front and Dominic’s logo on the back. All proceeds go directly toward funding the internship program, helping CIM students gain hands-on experience building skateparks.
